How to find your what3words codes

what3words gives every 3-metre square in the world a unique 3-word address. If your building has more than one entrance - a side door, a stage door, a car-park gate - each one needs its own code so parents and students arrive at exactly the right spot.

Why one code per entrance?

A postcode often drops parents at the front of a large building - but your class might be running through the side door, the sports-hall entrance or round the back at the studio block. A what3words code pinpoints the exact door, so first-time parents never wander the wrong corridor with a tearful four-year-old.

On your phone

  1. Download the free what3words app from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Stand directly outside the entrance you want to mark.
  3. Open the app and tap the location pin to centre the map on you.
  4. Drag the map slightly if needed so the blue square sits exactly on the doorway.
  5. Tap the three words at the top of the screen - for example ///filled.count.soap.
  6. Use Share to send it to yourself, or just write the three words down.

On your computer

  1. Go to what3words.com.
  2. Search your venue's postcode or address.
  3. Zoom right in until you can see the building - switch to satellite view if it helps you spot the right door.
  4. Click directly on each entrance, one at a time.
  5. Copy the 3-word code shown in the search bar for each one.

Adding them to your locations in Enrolio

When you set up each location, add the what3words code alongside the postcode. If a venue has more than one entrance used by different classes (e.g. the main hall vs. the dance studio at the rear), create a clearly-named location for each - for example:

  • Grange High School - Main Hall ///filled.count.soap
  • Grange High School - Dance Studio (rear) ///shed.spoon.kite

Parents can tap the code in their confirmation email or class reminder and be navigated straight to the correct door.
